Home Chef Review

Home Chef Review

First off, let me say I have tried a few different home delivery meal kits. When you open the box, you will have recipe cards, packaged ingredients separated by recipe and then the meat is usually on the bottom. I have used Home Chef about half a dozen times, maybe more, and they've always been fresh and cold when they arrive to my door. Here are two meals that we tried from Home Chef.

Pesto Butter Steak with Carrots & Pilaf

As you can see, all the ingredients are pre-packaged. Each recipe comes with it's own card and are proportioned accordingly. We have a 2-person meal here, multiple choices come with a 2 and 4 person option. Since our little one isn't old enough for solids yet, we stick to 2.

The great thing about it is that the recipe cards also tell you how much each ingredient you're using so that you can easily re-make the recipes. They also include calories, fats, protein, carbs, etc for each meal. I find this very helpful for those who track their caloric intake. Everything came out perfectly and was so good! The portions were perfect, we were full after, but not overly full.

Salmon in Dill Creama with Roasted Green Beans

This second one I was a bit nervous about because I am all about fresh seafood. Getting seafood prepackaged and delivered to your door seems like it would not taste fresh and be overly fishy, which it is not supposed to be. I have only ever baked salmon in the oven, but this recipe called for frying it in a pan. The fish was fantastic! No fishy taste, no bones, just pure deliciousness.

One thing I really love about Home Chef is that the directions are set up in a way that everything is done at the same time. When I'm cooking by myself, I always under or over estimate one of the items I'm cooking and everything else has to wait before serving it.

My husband is a very picky eater, and let me just say that only one meal I've made from home chef he wasn't a huge fan of, and honestly, it wasn't even the whole meal. It was the side. I generally do two Home Chef meals a week and it's so easy and convenient. I don't have to over think about what I'm making or search for all the ingredients. It's all right there, prepackaged and simple.
