Smarter Shopping!

These days, shopping for a family on a budget is difficult and can be expensive! It's can also be time consuming & tiring! One thing that had helped saved me money is rewards programs through different stores. My favorite is Fred Meyers (it's a Kroger brand store- Ralph's, QFC, etc). Although some prices may be a little bit more than a discount store like Winco or Walmart, I appreciate all the rewards you get back, and you get even better deals when you shop the weekly ads.

Recently, I received coupons for 5 weeks for $10 off groceries when you spend $40 or more, which I always do. They also included other coupons as well in the little brochure. Another great aspect is loading coupons to your loyalty card online so you're not carrying around coupons in your purse or wallet. On top of that, our rewards earn us money back at the store quarterly, along with coupons based on past purchases.

Another bonus is that my husband and I both drive larger vehicles so for every $100 we spend, we get $0.10 off and that can be split up per $0.10. For example, if we have $0.20 off a gallon, we can each use $0.10. We exclusively use Fred Meyer Fuel because of this and regardless of if you have points racked up or not, you always get $0.03 off per gallon!

Another great way to save money is using the Ibotta app. This app allows you to pick your stores and add featured items to be redeemed via your receipt. Once you hit $20, cash is literally transferred to you, just by simply scanning a receipt. How awesome is that? I seriously use Ibotta every chance I get!

Another great app is the Flipp app. You can see all your weekly ads at stores you shop at, as well as search for the best deals! The great thing about this is that you can load coupons onto your loyalty cards (they have basically every store) and use them! This means no more newspaper or coupon clipping!

One last piece of advice… if you and your family eats a lot of fruits & vegetables, see if Imperfect Produce is an option where you live. Once a week, or every other week, they give you the option to select in season items and deliver them to your door. All of the produce has some kind of “imperfection” whether it’s smaller than the usual crop, a surplus, etc. Head over to get $10.00 off your first order!
